President’s Address:
   Jilin Normal University is a key university that is directly under the jurisdiction of Jilin provincial government. It is the head of normal institution of higher learning; the “cradle” of the backbone of teachers for middle schools in Jilin Province; the studying center of teachers’ education and the training center of teachers for institution of higher learning.
   Since the ninth five-year, Jilin Normal University has come to a hyper-conventional period of developing in the pattern of striding over. We are sticking to holding the great banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory, seriously studying and carrying out the important thoughts of “Three Represents” and the educational policies of Communist Part; sticking to development is the inescapable truth and quality is the lifeline. We are performing the “four teachers’” cultivating model for talents ----- “teachers’ soul, teachers’ view, teachers’ virtue, teachers’ ability ” with the characteristics of student-centered and cultivating the students’ innovation, practice and starting the undertaking abilities. We focus on training students’ teachers’ soul of selfless dedication, teachers’ view of comprehensive development, teachers’ virtue of loving students, teachers’ ability of imparting knowledge and educating people. The scope of running the school is becoming larger and larger and the condition of running the school is obviously improved. Now, the quality of teaching and the level of scientific research are highly enhanced, the synthetic strength is greatly heightened, the fame of the graduates’ quality is becoming better and better and the social effect is wider and wider.
     We,humankind, has come to a new century. In this period, building a well-off society in an all-round way has provided the education in China with more and larger opportunities for its sustainable development. The university has walked for 46 years. During this glorious 46 years, we have contributed a lot to fostering senior specialized personnel,and to the service for developing the science and technology, the basic education and the construction of provincial economy. Now, we have made out a new plan—Jilin Normal University's "tenth five-year" Plan and 2010 development program. From our tenth five-year plan which goes to 2010, our guiding ideology, developing strategy and the objective of a struggle are “to stick to seeking the truth from the facts; to emancipate the mind; to keep the pace with the times; to perform the strategy of running the school with distinguishing features, to better the school with high qualities; to heighten the school with advanced scientific researches. To set up the school tradition of erudition, truth- seeking, reality, and innovation; to mould every student into the paragon in cheerful spirit, lofty virtue, dedicated concept and instructive skill; to build Jilin Normal University to be a first- class integrated provincial normal university with vivid characteristics, modernization and opening over the country.
